Tips to Reduce Screen Time!
Check out the facts below on kids and TV!!!
1. Talk to your family about how moving is important…..get outside, play hard to stay healthy!
2. Set screen time limits by creating a house rule and be a good role model by watching no more than 2 hours per day!
3. Log screen time vs. active time and make changes as a family to be more ACTIVE!
4. Make screen time=active time by stretching, doing yoga or jumping jacks while your watching your favorite program!
5. Create screen-free bedrooms by NOT having a computer or TV in your child’s bedroom! Kids who have TVs in their rooms tend to watch TV about 1.5 hours more a day than kids without!
6. Make meal time=family time by turning off the TV during meals! Schedule family meals at least 2-3 times a week!
7. Provide other options by having puzzles, toys, and crafts available to kids. Create new habits that replace TV time. Encourage outside and physical activities whenever possible!
8. Don’t use TV time as a reward or punishment as it will make TV seem even more important to children.
