The Capernaum-Monticello
clinic officially has a new home! The staff (and their families) worked hard
painting, decorating, cleaning, and organizing the new space, and therapy
officially began this week! The new address is:

It has the same fun décor as
the other Capernaum clinics, as well as a gym, 3 individual treatment rooms, a
kitchenette, and lovely waiting room! They also now offer physical therapy
services, in addition to occupational therapy and speech therapy! Spread the
word, as PT is a hard to find service in this part of the state.
At the Edina clinic, several
therapists attended the continuing education course, “A Three-Part Treatment Plan for Oral Placement Therapy”
hosted by TalkTools. Several New
Hope therapists also completed this course via online training. According to their
website (www.talktools.com),
“TalkTools' innovative tactile-sensory
approach to speech therapy uses therapy tools to train and transition muscle
movements for speech production. Learn how 40 highly motivating motor
activities can be used to improve phonation, resonation, and speech clarity.
Interactive, hands-on demonstrations will focus on therapeutically sound
techniques to develop oral-motor movements for improved speech clarity. Muscles
of the abdomen, velum, jaw, lips, and tongue will be discussed within the
parameters of movements necessary for speech production. Developmentally
appropriate motor movements for speech are therapeutically targeted using
highly motivating techniques appropriate for children and adults.” It will be
great to see how these new skills will impact our kiddos and help them to
improve their speech skills, feeding skills, and oral sensitivities!
