“Fifteen-year-old hockey phenom, Duke Pieper, was just about to take the ice for his first varsity game when his body told him otherwise. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was eventually diagnosed with a cavernous hemangioma, better known as a brain bleed. He was given a 5 percent chance to live.”
Duke survived and is using his story to motivate and encourage others. Through The Pieper Foundation, he has donated over 30 of his books, I’m Alive: Courage, Hope, and a Miracle, to Capernaum.
Duke was a client of Capernaum’s home-based services after he was released from the hospital. We are so excited for him as he pursues his college education, develops his foundation, and seeks to encourage others going through very difficult challenges.
