Meet Our New Registered Dietitian


Ann Westerhaus, RDN, LD
Hi everyone! 

My name is Ann Westerhaus, I am a pediatric Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with Pediatric Nutrition Therapy (PNT). I am so excited to announce that Pediatric Nutrition Therapy will be partnering with Capernaum’s Feeding Clinic to provide nutritional expertise for children to help promote growth, development, healing, and health!

Throughout my career as a dietitian, I have witnessed the incredible healing power of nutrition, particularly when utilized as part of a child's plan of care. Our goal is to partner with families and health care professionals in the community, to develop nutrition treatment plans that are individually tailored to address the specific needs of each child. From failure to thrive infants to tube feeding regimens and blenderized feeding plans, to severe allergies that inhibiting growth and quality of life, we are here to address your child’s nutrition needs.

Warm Cinnamon Apples with Greek Yogurt Recipe
Whether you’re looking for a healthy breakfast, snack, or dessert, or just looking to get your kids to eat more fruit, this recipe is perfect!

Ingredients

- 2 Granny Smith Apples, diced with peels on (or another tart apple)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

1. Toss the diced apples, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
2. Heat olive oil in sauté pan and cook spiced apples in pan on medium heat.
3. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Apples should be tender.
4. Top with a dollop of vanilla Greek yogurt and serve!


Did you know: Apples contain a phytochemical knows as quercetin which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Apples are also a great source of fiber when the peels are left on!
