School-age children should get at least 1 hour of physical
activity per day!
1. Get your entire family involved.
2. Kids’ choice.
Engage in physical activity that your child genuinely enjoys or
naturally gravitates to.
3. Make a physical
activity “date”. Regularly schedule a
fun activity that is centered on being physically active….like going to the
park, open skate at the ice arena, or riding bikes together.
4. Make a physical activity “chore” chart. A colorful weekly chart (like one you would
make for chores) can be a good reminder of the importance of daily physical
activity.
5. Send your child outside.
Outside play encourages not only physical activity, but promotes
socialization with the neighbor children, time with nature, and
creativity!
6. Model good behavior.
Children with active parents tend to have children that are active.
