· Flashcards or pictures cut from magazines
· Sentence strip
· Binoculars (make from toilet paper rolls and tape)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Print out the sentence strip on a white sheet of paper: I SPY__________.
2. Hide the target cards around the room. Use some pictures that include sounds that are challenging to pronounce. You can use pictures of common household objects, favorite characters, family members, etc.
3. Model the object of the game by taking the first turn.
4. Then, have your child use binoculars to spy for pictures.
5. When he/she finds a picture, have them say in the carrier phrase (“I spy a star.”).
6. Continue finding all the pictures and saying the words.
7. Expand the task by asking questions about the pictures, “What do you do with a spoon?” “Can you find a match in the kitchen?” “Who wears glasses in our family?” “Tell me about that boy.”
